The Las Encartaciones district is located in the most westerly part of Bizkaia and occupies roughly one fifth of the total surface area of this historical territory.

This district is made up of the municipalities of Abanto–Zierbena, Alonsotegi, Artzentales, Balmaseda, Galdames, Gordexola, Güeñes, Karrantza-Harana, Lanestosa, Muskiz, Ortuella, Sopuerta, Turtzioz and Zalla, creating a geographical area in which the variety of its people, culture, heritage, history, natural spaces, traditions and cuisine make it a singular enclave, provided with an endless list of attractions that will, without any doubt, beguile whoever comes to visit it.
