The Busturialdea Urdaibai region is a unique natural treasure in the Basque Country. In the very heart of Bizkaia, it is a natural area which, due to its size and degree of conservation, is the most important wetland area in the Basque Country. This is probably where the greatest diversity of landscape and ecology in the entire Basque Autonomous Community can be found.

Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1984, it is a place where the maritime and rural ambience combines with culture and nature to create a paradise, where humans and nature coexist in a framework of respect and sustainable development.
